Committee Description
The International Criminal Court (ICC) is a legal committee focused on the investigation and prosecution of individuals accused of committing the most serious international crimes, including genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes of aggression. Delegates assume the roles of judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and legal representatives, engaging in simulated trials based on principles of international criminal law.
The committee emphasizes evidence evaluation, legal reasoning, and courtroom strategy while examining complex cases involving violations of international humanitarian law. Delegates must navigate challenges surrounding state sovereignty, individual accountability, and the pursuit of justice, balancing legal principles with political realities. Through structured proceedings and judicial deliberation, the ICC explores the challenges of enforcing international law and holding individuals accountable for crimes committed during periods of conflict.

President's letter
Esteemed delegates,
Welcome to the International Criminal Court, where justice, political strategy, and diplomacy converge. My name is Yasmin Farraj, and I am a junior at the International Academy Amman. It is my honor to serve as your president for this year's AAMUN ICC, alongside our respected deputy president, Yasmeen Abbasi, and our esteemed chair, Mohammad Abu Hwauij. I look forward to witnessing your commitment, analytical thinking, and persuasive advocacy throughout this prestigious conference.
This committee, in contrast to typical United Nations committees, will place delegates at the center of difficult legal proceedings. Delegates will need to examine evidence, question witnesses, present legal arguments, and defend their assigned council. Every argument, piece of evidence, and question asked could influence the verdict of the trial.
This year the committee will address the Prosecution vs. Saif al Islan Gaddafi, related to alleged crimes against humanity committed during Libya's 2011 uprising, and the Prosecution vs. Nicolás Maduro, concerning alleged political persecution and unlawful killings in Venezuela.
