President's letter

Dear delegates of The Security Council,

Eleanor Roosevelt proclaims that "It is not enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it." Well to you, daring delegate, I ask you, what version of peace do you believe in?

As for introductions, my name is Hakem Alkadi, a junior at Amman Academy, and to say I am proud in this moment would be an understatement, as opening the doors of this faithful council to you has been a distant dream for long, and come AAMUN26' I will be serving as your honored president, and containing my excitement has been a challenge.

Security Council has long possessed a special place in my heart, from the ominous moments while voting, anticipating a deadly incoming veto, to the pure satisfaction of your military conquering a rival delegate's nation due to your strategic directive masterclass, SC is one of the most diverse and layered committees. Sky high tensions and confidential defense pacts may be the headlines, but the council is your oyster my delegate, do with it what you will.

Discussing the political soap opera that is the Falkland Islands dispute of England and Argentina, along with the "catastrophe" waiting to happen in Sudan, through this conference we will be exploring the globes most heated geo-political debacles.

I am a lover of fierce debate, and this committee is home to heated exchanges. I want you to challenge seemingly "established" ideas, to fight for your resolutions with passion, to never leave a question unanswered. My delegates, Security Council, is not the committee to play it "safe", It is where your unique perspective has a chance to be adopted, so defend your point, take up arms, and engrave your name in the next chapters of global affairs. All I ask of you is to act with belief, belief that through the dark smog of war lies a land of peace and justice. So, to you delegate, what road to peace will you bring to the table?
