The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is a UN body responsible for promoting and protecting human rights globally, as well as addressing violations and emerging humanitarian concerns. Established in 2006, it replaced the former UN Commission on Human Rights and operates as an intergovernmental forum where member states discuss, investigate, and respond to human rights issues.

In Model United Nations, the UNHRC focuses on challenges such as freedom of expression, protection of civilians, discrimination, refugee crises, political repression, and accountability for human rights violations. Delegates are expected to evaluate both immediate crisis responses and long-term structural solutions that improve human rights conditions.
